[PMB] Effreti's ranged scout

Hello my fellow scouts, my ign is Effreti and I've been a scout since this game first entered open beta. We scouts had our ups and downs and I've been there for all our reworks and revamps (too many to count :D but seriously , there were like 4 reworks).

Today I plan to present you with my current ranged build that I use for astral, raids and farming. I'm not really a fan of PvP, but I'll also be providing a few pointers if you want to change this build to a pvp one. Also planning a more in-depth guide to the class and the other builds, first I need to actually have the time for it :D.

Just as a preface, with the latest changes to the scout class, we got 3 main builds now : melee dps, ranged dps and tank.
I switched to ranged when 6.0 hit because melee dps was a bit on the low side (as you can probably see in astral and pvp, ranged scouts are pretty much top dps in this patch). As for tank, at the moment you can do s1 easy with it, but there is still a little bit of work to make scout tanking viable in raids or harder astral. In the next patches a few tank rubies will get changed, so maybe I'll give it a try then and tell you guys how it went.

But let's get down to bussiness : The ranged build

The build that I'm using now is this one :
http://en.allodswiki.ru/calc#!8!133..33.…HFKD!wczdq/WNEB

With this build you will have :
- both auras (Ferocity and Intensive Training): considering most scouts only run Intensive, you will be versatile in a group with another scout or warden.
- Fervor/Unity : this is the main thing people will want you in party for, since bards got a nerf recently, you are now the most sought out class for fervor which also has great dps.
- Decent amount of CC : caltrops, two knockdown, a silence , a slow, enough for solo and group stuff and decent for pvp
- Recharging enchanted arrows (with the new Ammunition rubies, now you don't have to enchant arrows by hand unless you run out).

Rotation should be :
For single target : Ranging fire -> Incendiary -> Double Shot -> Intuitive Shot until Double Shot is back up.
Stack Incendiary arrow to 24 seconds and refresh when needed. If you have enough energy and you find yourself waiting for cooldowns, slip in a Tesla or Rain of Arrows. This will boost dps, but be careful not to run out of energy.
You should use Finishing Shot when the mob is close to dying (under 10%). In pvp, you should get 8 stacks of Ranging Fire and then use Finishing Shot and then repeat, you get more burst dps this way.

For aoe : Caltrops -> Rain of Arrows -> Tesla and repeat from Rain of Arrows.
As a dps maximization, while you wait for Rain of Arrows or Tesla cooldown, try to put Incendiary on each mob, unless the mobs are easy (on harder mobs it is worth it). It will increase dps and also heal you a bit if you have decent Bloodlust.
Also, don't forget to use your racial ability, if that deals aoe damage (2 of the 5 racials do aoe damage, not sure about Priden scouts)

Statwise you should aim for a balance or 60:40 between Proficiency and Brutality and around 70:30 for Vitality and Bloodlust. These values are kinda personal preference, I can't really give you an accurate advice since I'm still gearing, but try to keep them balanced and not have too many of one and almost none of the other.

If you want a similar build for pvp, I recommend taking the armor rubies and Splinter . Stamina rubies are also a good choice and don't forget to max out Caltrops for more duration and Precise Arrow for a disarm.

In closing, I really hope this small guide help you in your quest of becoming a great scout. If you have any questions or remarks, feel free to reply to this thread or send me a pm and I'll be glad to answer you all.

Not bad Eff, not bad.

Here's what i currently run. I have fear reincarnation skill.

http://en.allodswiki.ru/calc/#!8!131..33…LNC!wgigxc/MXUC

Since i blink and recoil (for the kd), i took rubies making it use no energy, and i use the jocker or whatever stacks to use parry when needed against physical classes. Dodger is also quite nice ;)
I have no need for precision arrow. 10 or so second cooldown on blink/recoil, which knocks down, and i have fear, and caltrops do the trick.

I really like the silence from r2 precise shot. It's so funny seeing healers in pvp running around like chickens for 5 seconds :D
Thank you for your suggestions Shaek, as I said, I'm not that into pvp :D You should do a guide too, the scouts forum is kinda empty these days.

http://en.allodswiki.ru/calc#!8!133..33.…CKD!wczdq/IOZBI

I take bandit because i think stealth sometimes help me survive.
I take killer instic because... dont know ;) maby give me some dps? - I have dillema here: terminator vs killer instic but i get finally killer.

Be careful with bandit, it doubles the casttime and cooldown of your ranged skills. I had it at some point too and forgot it on in astral and couldn't figure out why my dps was low :D
Killer instinct only helps if you get hit by stuff. Unless you also have determination gear, those 9 points won't help your dps much. I might help in pvp, but in pve you should not get hit by mobs that often.

why didnt you take r3 rain of arrows? r3 tranquil arrow isnt necessary, you can get away with r2.
onslaught is trash.
accumulated heat is trash.
determination for a scout is trash.
sigh

1. Agree there
2. well iam not a scout but shooting while running seems like a godly skill in pvp... but well ofc you can just stand there and tanke pallys who onehit you^^
3. cant say anything to this cuz i dont know how much dmg its doing in pvp^^
4. um well you are often a focus target as a scout and so you will recieve damage quite a lot so i think determination en mass is a must in pvp^^ for example my scout runs over 40 in dominion and its working fine :P in normal battlegrounds its also usefull cuz there are always some little deter donators (summys)

2r rain is enough. Tranquil arrow lvl 3 is one of the best choice what i ever made  Helps every time in tika-rika and farming bosses.
A Bit more aoe damage and less control ability? No thanks

While I agree r3 tranquil is good, you are losing a lot of dps with only r2 rain. The better the gear you have, the more the difference will be higher.
Unless you don't wanna go for a full dps build, in which case it's fine i guess.

my reasoning is that most of the time when you are kiting something, you have a dot like incendiary, or someone else is attacking it (astral and pvp and such), and the stacks will fade quickly.

yes of course r3 tranquil is best, duh more slow, profit?
but you can get away with r2, because you can get more utility out of your scout with those 3 extra points..

but you always want r3 of your rain of arrows. its a huge aoe boost, and low cooldown. max it

As a pure pve scout your top priority is damage output. There are more than enough talents and rubies at 65 to get a full DPS build, even if you don't cash shop.
That means taking accumulated heat (even though damage is meh), r3 caltrops with max rubies, r3 aoes, etc, and then going for the utility and survivability with whatever's left. That's just good business. Onslaught is decent for pve too - less energy consumption, lower cast times, ability to move out of aoes while still dpsing; just use with gray tears if you are poor. Personally I get both fero and regen so I can fill in with either party buff in raids, as well as the poison dispel ruby that goes with escape artist. If you want to run determination rubies or whatever, that's optional and goes with individual play style.

IMHO, if you're a new player without greatness/duo spec, run a full pve build so you can net yourself more astral parties.

Good luck with your PMB submission, Effreti

PS: Priden racial is a single target ranged skill that knocks a target back 5 yards, and then knocks them down for 2 seconds.

Ok guys, i agree your suggestions, and a bit change my build:

Sadly i resign from my love tranquil arrow lvl 3, but now i have Rain lvl 3. I also definitely resign from killer instinct and bandit, and now have more dmg from Finishing shot. Thanks.

@Effreti could you suggest me best reincarnation for PvE (solo/astral) and PvP.
I think about 4:

Warrior for reggen energy - helps get more dmg on boss (faster regen more dps?) but not help in survival.
Mage for Flash - another jump who prolly help on survival, but nothing more.
Psionicist - telekinetic pull can be good for more aoe, meaby help also in PvP?
Warden - another heal? allways welcome ;D

hard choices

@panparowka warden got no heal as reinc skill^^ it has bee swarm (cc) and balance but balance just takes hp from a party member and gives it to you fo if you are alone its useless^^ and in a grp normally the heal should have this skill himself :P

Warrior for regen is nice if you do more pve. Summoner is nice for fear in pvp. Psi would be my third choice for tk pull .Each class has at least one ability scouts can use somehow. Depends on what you like in the end.
