[PMB] Gumba's Path of Light

Hey all, my name is Gumba, I'm part of the Guild Impact (AIRIN) on the Empire side. I have been playing Allods Online for almost 5 years. I have played as a Warrior, Scout, Healer, Demologist, and Paladin but for my PMB I had to decide between my favorites who are Warrior and Paladin. I decided to go with the Paladin for a few reasons, primarily because it's a class that can "absorb" damage, let's you heal yourself and deal massive close quarter damage which are the best things in Allods in my opinion, it's a really fun class to play with !
______________________________________

Let's talk about the possible Weapons and Builds you can use with the Paladin:

The Holy Tank:

Just like the Warrior, the Paladin has the ability to be a tank which excels in shielding abilities via the Holy barriers, alongside the ability to heal and save your allies. The Paladin can absorb tons of damage and still hit hard with the Determination bar filled up. The Holy tank has AOE (area of effect) attacks and single target attacks.
The Holy Tank deals high damage AOE but will still take some time killing it's enemies. In PvP, well this class is also used but not as often as a DPS Paladin. You can still manage to be a heavy turtle on the playground don't worry.
For this build you will have to use either a one-handed sword
, mace or a spearwith a shield .

Hard Hitter DPS (damage per second):

Paladin is one of the top single target DPS classes in Allods, and yeah you can kill someone without them even noticing you were there. Doesn't amaze you ? Well hear this, wih the Paladin you are able to defend yourself using the holy barriers, heal, and shielding spells. How strong will you feel with all these powers ? Well like a God with some armor on...
The DPS Paladin deals heavy damage on single targets, this means that you will be able to kill targets fast and pass on to another one quick. Most of the DPS Paladin's are PVP focused since it's a killing machine...
The Paladin uses 2 handed weapons like a axe , sword , spear or a big mace

P.S. Keep in mind that you will get your first 2 handed weapons (axe and sword) in quests around level 20, so don't panic and be patient...

Now to decide which race you will playing as:

Kanian: – Deals damage and applies a debuff that causes the target to lose X health every 2 seconds for 20 seconds.
Good single target damage. Mainly used in boss fights as DPS or PvP situations when you want to burst.

Elf: – Applies a debuff that blocks X healing to the selected target. Duration: 20 seconds.
Only effective in PvP in my opinion and only against healers. The heal that this ability blocks is actually low, it basically blocks 1 or a half of a heal so I would use it to finish off a healer.

Xadaganian: – Reduces damage stored in all barriers by X.

Used to be the best racial skill since it decreased all damage in barriers to 0, now it decreases damage in barriers by a certain amount, it still helps in both Tank/DPS for PvE/PvP.

Orc: – Deals X damage to all enemies in front of Reaver.
Great damage in AoE, good if you want to go for DPS.

So Kanian and Orc are mostly DPS toward classes while Xada and Elf are more tanky in my opinion. But you can buy a Cash Shop item that will give you all race abilites if you desire.

With the new update Broken Chains, it altered the paladin slightly in the following ways:
  • Mighty Strikes now increases the damage of Crusader Blow, Crusader Seal, Purifying Strike, and Shining Sword by 6/9/18%. Alright ! a boost for damage, can't say no to this  .
  • New ruby set: Anger Flushed. Cooldown duration of melee attacks is reduced by 10/20/30% under the Righteous Cause effect. Right you are indeed, this means we get to DPS faster under Righteous Cause effect..
  • New ruby set: Pure Thoughts. With a 20/40/60% chance restores one Canon of Purity per each enemy killed by your direct attack. Hmmm hmm no thank you, it's not worth the cost of rubies... :|
  • New ruby set: Pledge of Allegiance. These rubies "Pledge of Allegiance" allows the restoration of cannons of light with a 10%/20%/30% chance after breaking a holy barrier. This is a must for a Holy Tank ! ;)
  • With a 10/20/30% chance restores one Canon of Light when the barrier is split. Paladin’s barriers now absorb 75% of the incoming damage and let through 25% of the damage. Wait...what... :| Soooo are they taking away our Godly Barriers of Mighty Power ??
Well let me explain, this could be an approach towards the new stat system implemented in the game a while ago. Indeed, determination is the stat which I am thinking about since it is a way to fill the determination bar faster, there is no need to break barriers to obtain full determination now. Although, there is a little disappointing side with this patch, did you guess ? Well if you get hit with a huge blow, can you guess what will happen ? Yes, you will probably die without even getting to use your beloved Holy barriers...;(

Let's see how the build works now:

  • The damage that is absorbed by the Holy Barriers can be reduced with spells such as Overcome , Tenacity , and Deliverance , these are part of the most important talents to take in the Tank build.
  • Challenge (Taunt)- force the target to attack you for 10 seconds.
  • Righteous Word- This skill, will increase threat you generate on your targets. This means that after applying this buff on the target your following attacks will generate more threat and this is how we maintain agro (enemy will focus on you). The rubies Guilty Conscience (at rank 3) will add 150% more threat and will add periodic damage to this effect, those rubies are a must in every Tank build.
  • You want to focus on Condemnation, Righteous Word, and Anathema and it's rubies in the second tree. Indeed these are the attacks that will let you sustain a correct aggro ( control over Mobs that you will have to keep in order to fulfill your task as a TANK ). Otherwise the other rubies are self explanatory since they will boost your survivability and resistance.
  • Binding Curse is for PvP aswell as Vengeance ruby, Strike of justice is good 1 or 2, I personnally have the Warrior's Charge which helps a lot so 1 is enough. I didn't go for the proficiency augment rubies since I want to get my determination as high as possible to deal higher damage.
  • Don't Forget to take the extra Barrier, you will have to get a third one later on.
  • I also prefer taking Zealot's Fury rubies (Determination increase) since for the Tank I find it more important then Disciple's Power one's (Proficiency increase). For the Tank, I find it best to take damage and with Determination BAR full, deal heavy damage...
For the stats of a Holy Tank:

You have to focus on Determination and Tenacity as Tank:

Skill Rotation for PvE:

Single Target:
Start a fight with Condemnation > Righteous Word (for agro) > Sacred Sunrise > Righteous Word > Anathema > Righteous Word > sacred Sunrise > Anathema and then repeat if needed. Also use Challenge (rubis skill) if required.

Pretty self explanatory, "Condemnation" to start the pull, followed by the agro skill, "righteous word". You are required to deal a decent amount of damage if you want to maintain agro of the mob after using your Righteous Word. This is why "Sacred Sunrise" is for, apply it on the mob followed by another righteous Word to make it pop. The skill "Challenge" is to be used if someone manages to take agro off of you.
AoE:
Start a fight with Condemnation > Righteous Word > Anathema > TAB (on keyboard) > Righteous Word > Anathema > TAB (on keyboard) > Righteous Word > Anathema
OR
If ou lose agro Challenge > Righteous Word > TAB > Righteous Word > Sacred Sunrise

This is kinda tricky, Paladins get agro much harder than warriors when dealing with larger groups so as a Paladin, you will need to TAB each individual target to use our single target agro skill. Luckily the Paladin has a high DPS so it doesn't make such a difference in the end.

Skill Rotation for PvP:

Any rotation is possible....but the main thing you need to keep in mind is to keep your distance from melee enemies. Use Pious Anger (dragon tear ability) only when your Determination bar is full and the target's health is around 25% to finish it off (make sure to use Holy barriers+ the different shielding spells throughout the fight).

Reincarnation Skill to choose:

Healer's Holy shield would be a great choice, allowing you to shield yourself while also avoiding ccs and spamming holy spells. Great for PvP and PvE. Don't forget that the Psionist also has a TK pull that will put your enemies in one place, very useful to use AOEs.

Why choose these:
  • Having Crusader's Blow at 2 is enough, and since I recommend putting Binding Curse 2 and Particle of Light 2, there aren't enough talent points left. But Strike of Justice is 3, and for someone that has the Warrior's Charge, having Strike of Justice 1 is enough. The damage dealt with Crusader's Blow/Seal at 2 or at 3 doesn't make a real difference, and to keep up with targets I prefer putting Strike of Justice 3 even if I have Warrior's Charge... It all depends on how you play PvP...
  • We can't forget the importance of crowd control in PvP so Binding Curse is very effective since you will not only slow down but also silence the target with the rubies Seal of Slience. It is the most usefull spell alongst Shining Sword for crowd control, which means having control over your enemies of course. 8)
  • Chastising Strike is a personnal preference for multiple target hitting, but you can choose to not put rubies for Chastising Strike if you like to focus on only one target in PvP.
  • Self-healing rubies are a must, these will give you a sort of "second life" just like the Warrior has with Die Hard ability.
For the leveling choose:
  • Crusader's Blow 2 > Retribution 3 > Overcome 2 > Strike of Justice 1 > Particle of light 2 > Purifying Strike 3 > Binding curse 2 > Strike of Justice 3 > Tenacity 1 > Solemn Prayer 2 > Shining Sword 3 > delivrance 1 > Ferocity 3 (along with true Faith rubies ) > Righteous Cause 3 and then the attack ameliorations...(like crusader's seal, etc..)
  • First tree's abilities going down and then up, around level 15 get a second barrier, make sure you have all three once you reach Asee teph (around level 25)
For the stats of a DPS Paladin PvP:
  • You have to focus mainly on Brutality and Proficiency as DPS
  • Willpower (control over enemies) and Bloodlust (life steal) are secondary stats which are important for PvP
PvP skill rotation:

Go for ->Strike of Justice -> Binding Curse -> Crusader's Blow -> Retribution -> Purifying Strike -> Righteous Cause-> Crusader's Blow -> Retribution -> Purifying Strike -> Blinding Curse and repeat...
if target get's away please pursue with Strike of Justice

Or if you have Dragon Tears:

Start off with -> Strike of Justice > Crusader seal > Entangling chains > Righteous Cause > Crusader seal > Purifying strike and repeat until you have 6 stacks of concentration, then use your Pious Anger ( dragon tear ability ) to blow the target in 2-3 hits. You will need to use Crowd control spells in between to make the target under control for you to finish it off without sustaining so much damage.

Reincarnation Skill to Choose:

I would highly recommend
Warrior's Charge for closing distances in both PvP and PvE. Aswell as Psionic's Telekinetic pull (will help you put enemies into one single place for a short time ) and Healer's divine foresight skill. Also, using the Warrior's reincarnation skill Adreline rush, is highly recommended for a double energy regeneration with Righteous Cause .

I personnally prefer this build since it's the one I have chose to level up.

Why choose these:
  • I prefer putting Overcome 3 and not taking Tenacity, although it is taken in most builds I find it a lot easier not using Tenacity. I prefer using my energy for a maximum damage dealing in PvE. That is why I chose to put Solemn Prayer 3 aswell. It is a personnal choice, you can put Tenacity 1 and leave Solemn Prayer 2 aswell.
  • For a maximum DPS, I chose to put Crusader's Blow/Seal 2 and go for Delivrance at rank 1. Aswell asretribution 3, and Purifying Strike 3.
  • Again, here Chastising Strike is also one of my preferences for PvE since you will be able to hit multiple targets, so for raiding it is very usefull. Of course it is not necessary when you only have 1 target in front of you.
  • Also this build can work for PvP if you chose to take the Vengeance ruby it will help a lot, but if you want to do only PvE don't take it.
  • Strike of Justice 3 is optional, you can put it 1 or 2, it all depends if you want to go PvP with this. The huge difference with the PvP build is that I didn't take Binding Curse, so don't take Seal of Silence rubies aswell. If you choose not to take Seal of silence rubies then go for Faith Healing rubies since they will boost your healing of Solemn prayer. Although, the skill is still very useful so putting it 1 or 2 will definitely help you out.
  • I chose to take all three Righteous Rage rubies but if you don't have enough rubies, go for only 2. Or instead of taking Righteous Rage rubies, go for Protection of Faith ones since you will not have Tenacity and will count on Overcome and Delivrance. These rubies will let you have even more energy for your DPS while being able to use Barrier abilities much faster (cooldown reduction).
  • I prefer using Chastising Strike for multiple targets (rubies) instead of Anathema. Though taking Chastising Strike only at rank 1 is probably enough. I would go for 2 Zealot's Fury (determination boost) rubies instead if I could replace my current Build.
  • Using Particle of Light will help you out in your survivability ! If you want Particle put it 2 since at Rank 1 it will have a 5min cooldown while rank 2, only about a 2min cooldown ! What I chose to do is to take Faith Healing rubies for Solemn Prayer and it boosts my Particles aswell ! Also, Holy defense rubies are important id you choose to use Particles since you will be able to absord all type of damage and not only Shadow or Physical.

Skill Rotation for PvE Dps Build:

For you first levels go for:

Crusader's Blow > Retribution > Crusader's Blow > Retribution...and don't forget Overcome...

Later on:

Strike of Justice > Shining Sword (as soon as you get it) > Crusader's Blow > Retribution > Purifying Strike > Crusader's Blow > Retribution > Purifying Strike

When you fight against a blue ringed mob (monster), it will deal massive damage so activate delivrance (if you have at least 2 barriers) to take off some of that huge. Otherwise use it wisely...

Once you have Righteous Cause:

Justice Strike > Crusader's Blow > Retribution > Purifying Strike > Righteous Cause > Crusader's blow > Retribution > Purifying Strike...(repeat)
_______________________________________

Reincarnation Skill to choose:

I have chosen Healer's Divine Foresight (for survivability) and Warrior's skills (especially Adreline Rush since you get a very helpful energy regeneration.)

Some extra tips:

Resetting Talent or Stat points (respeccing) in this game is not an easy thing to acomplish. To reset talents, you need to acquireWater of Death. To reset stats, you need Water of Life. Bring any of them to your class trainer, and you'll be able to re-allocate the spent points.
Up until level 15, you can approach your Class Master and request a reset for free.

Also, if you play with a friend who decides to play as healer, going for a Holy Tank build or Dps PvE build doesn't make a real difference since you can do Dungeons with Mercenaries ( dungeon helpers that you can summon in exchange of some money ). The only difference is that you will deal massive damage while being specialised in DPS on a single target while with Tank Build you will hit multiple targets...

Do you hesitate between Warrior and Paladin ?

In my experience, as a player that has done both Warrior and Paladin, the Warrior is definitly a fun class. At the moment the new Priden race let's you make a Warrior but we will have a patch that will let us make a Paladin Priden so get your Warrior leveled up and do certain quests at Isle Of Revelation which will give you the abaility to make a Reincarnation.
